En julio, las colmenas se trasladan a los páramos de brezo y, inicialmente, las abejas recolectan de las campanillas brezos, tréboles y otras flores de los pastos de montaña. Posteriormente se recoge el característico brezo de maruca y la mezcla resultante es una miel de muy buen sabor.
