About Essence of Harris

Essence of Harris was founded in 2015 by Jamie and Deenie McGowan. The company is located in the small village of Tarbert on the Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland.  Their passion was to bring industry to the local community and produced high quality soy wax candles and diffusers with a range of exquisite scents that portray the stunning beauty and remoteness of the Western Isles of Scotland. Careful thought has been given in naming each scent so that it may evoke a soothing feel to the mind and soul.

The Auras Collection includes Aurora, Eden and Oceana.  Inspired by the elemental aspects of the island, the collection is focused on well-being and the importance of self-care with scents that de-stress, relax, and revitalize through aromatherapy.

The Classic Collection is named after stunning beaches and bays on the Atlantic side of the island. Horgabost, Huisinis and Losgaintir.

Adru takes it's name from that given to the Isle of Harris itself, discovered on an ancient map by the Greek astronomer Ptolemy c.150AD.
